arisano is an independent English language magazine about art: the people who make it and the studios where it is made, the materials and methods behind a picture or a bronze, the galleries, fairs and museums where art meets its public, the pleasures and practicalities of collecting, and the art of living with art at home.
Look longer.
Our claim is an invitation. Most of us give a picture a few seconds; the best ones give back much more if we stay. Everything in this magazine, from the history portraits to the Slow Looking exercise, is meant to help you stay a little longer and see a little more.
Artists on arisano
Artists can present themselves in our artists’ section with a vita, images of their works and short films. Every profile and every change is reviewed by the editorial team before it is published. Presentation is free of charge, and arisano does not sell art or take commissions.
What we do not do
arisano does not sell art, does not represent artists and gives no financial or investment advice. No gallery, dealer, auction house or museum pays for a mention. Where we name institutions, fairs or auction houses, we do so because they are part of how the art world works.
How we work
Dates, titles, locations and figures come from museums, institutions and other reliable public sources and are checked before publication. Attributions and debates are presented as what they are. We do not quote people we have not spoken to, and we do not invent stories. If you find a mistake, please tell us.
About our images and videos
The images in this magazine were created with an AI image generator and carry a small “AI generated” label. They show moods, places, materials and techniques; they are not reproductions of real artworks and do not show real people. The short films were generated with an AI video model. Works shown in artists’ profiles are the artists’ own images.
